Montpellier University Hospital and ADLIN Science Launch a First-of-Its-Kind Project in Europe to Integrate AI into the Hospital and Leverage Hospital Data to Advance Research and Patient Care

Montpellier University Hospital and ADLIN Science announce the launch of ALLIANCE SANTÉ IA, a strategic program selected under the France 2030 initiative, jointly led by the University Hospital and ADLIN Science. Unique in Europe in terms of its ambition and scale of deployment, the project has received €14.9 million in funding out of a total budget of €18.0 million and marks a new milestone in the integration of artificial intelligence within the hospital. It aims to leverage hospital data to accelerate medical research and improve care, within a sovereign, secure framework controlled by the hospital.

ALLIANCE SANTÉ IA is based on a widely held view in the healthcare sector. Artificial intelligence is advancing rapidly, but its actual implementation in hospitals remains hampered by one major obstacle: while data exists, it is often difficult to access, heterogeneous, and insufficiently structured to be utilized in a reliable and reproducible manner.

The goal of the program is clear: to leverage data as a tool for clinical care, research, management, and training by accelerating medical research and preventive medicine.

This structuring of data that has previously been difficult to analyze will offer concrete benefits such as:

- Accelerate research in medical science and preventive medicine;
- Develop and evaluate artificial intelligence tools that are directly applicable to patient care in real-world hospital settings;
- Free up clinical time by reducing the administrative burden on healthcare providers;
- Ensure the reliability of AI applications in hospitals and document their use, based on high-quality data.

By organizing hospital data that has previously been difficult to analyze, ALLIANCE SANTÉ IA helps accelerate research, deploy AI tools that support patient care in real-world settings, free up medical staff time, improve the safety of patient care pathways, and ensure the long-term reliability of AI applications in hospitals.

A groundbreaking project developed in collaboration between a university hospital and a French technology company

ALLIANCE SANTÉ IA is the result of close collaboration between Montpellier University Hospital and ADLIN Science, as part of a formal and structured public-private partnership.

The University Hospital contributes its hospital, clinical, and scientific expertise, its real-world use cases, and its role in ensuring patient trust. ADLIN Science provides technology developed in France, designed to structure, organize, and ensure the quality of hospital biomedical data, in strict compliance with French and European regulatory frameworks.

Designed from the outset as a framework program, this initiative is not an isolated experiment, but rather a model intended to produce documented results.

ADLIN’s role: making data usable without moving it

As part of the ALLIANCE SANTÉ IA initiative, ADLIN Science is integrating its digital platform into Montpellier University Hospital to transform data into tools for accelerating research and improving patient care.

ADLIN provides the software infrastructure and tools needed to organize, structure, and ensure the quality of hospital data, whether clinical, laboratory, or imaging data.

The core principle of the project is thatdata never leaves the hospital. ADLIN does not access the data and never takes control of it. The University Hospital remains responsible for data governance and patient trust. This architecture provides concrete evidence of data sovereignty, grounded in actual practices and technical architecture, rather than mere declarations.

“ALLIANCE SANTÉ IA marks a breakthrough in how artificial intelligence is integrated into hospitals. Together with Montpellier University Hospital, we are co-developing a model that is unprecedented in Europe, based on sovereign AI, where data remains under hospital governance and is never transferred elsewhere. ADLIN provides the technology to structure and ensure the reliability of biomedical data so that it can be effectively leveraged to benefit research, patient care, and, ultimately, patients. This model is intended to be replicated in other institutions to sustainably accelerate medical innovation within a framework of trust.”
Paul Rinaudo, CEO of ADLIN Science

A model designed to be replicable

ALLIANCE SANTÉ IA was designed from the outset as a tested and validated model intended to be replicated by other healthcare stakeholders. Following an initial regional rollout, the project aims to provide a framework that facilitates the integration of AI in hospitals and theuse of health data to support research and patient care, within a controlled environment.

“By making data truly actionable within the hospital, ALLIANCE SANTÉ IA will accelerate the transition from clinical questions to scientific evidence, ultimately changing patients’ lives. We are proud to partner with Montpellier University Hospital to develop a transformative public-private model supported by France 2030.”
Prof. David Morquin, Director of Artificial Intelligence at Montpellier University Hospital

A partnership of excellence dedicated to a transformative project

ALLIANCE SANTÉ IA is supported by a consortium comprising CINES, Inria, Ana Healthcare, and Numalis, among others, as well as a strategic partnership with the European cloud provider Scaleway.

“What brings about lasting change in the healthcare system are models that can be rapidly deployed, adapted, and activated. ALLIANCE SANTÉ IA aligns with this approach by offering a replicable and operational solution. “At Scaleway, we are proud to contribute to this momentum by providing a European cloud infrastructure designed to make these innovations immediately deployable—without waiting for lengthy implementation cycles—in a trusted environment tailored to the healthcare sector’s requirements.”
Damien Lucas, CEO of Scaleway

“ CINES is pleased to be part of Alliance Santé IA and to accelerate the deployment of a sovereign infrastructure dedicated to the analysis of big data in the healthcare sector. By creating a certified environment for Health Data Hosting, CINES will become the first French supercomputer capable of analyzing health data across multiple use cases. The developments carried out with partners (CHU, Inria, ANA Healthcare, Numalis, and Scaleway) and the integration of the ADLIN platform bring this ambition to fruition by providing a comprehensive environment for implementing data analytics projects for academic and private sector stakeholders.”
Michel Labadie, Executive Director of CINES

The project is based in Montpellier, with support from MedVallée, Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole, and the Occitanie Region.

The program’s initial results and findings will be presented at the major SantExpo 2026 event and online via the social media channels of ADLIN Science and the project’s partners.
